We were at the Hope Center preschool in northeast Denver on January 30 to shoot a puppet skit sponsored by the Colorado Department of Transportation. The goal of the performance is to educate preschoolers, particularly children of color, about the need for buckling up their seatbelts in a fun and entertaining way.
It empowers preschoolers to take responsibility for their own vehicle safety by requesting them to “make it click’. This also inspires children to carry the seat belt message to their parents as Safety Rangers.
African American puppeteer Vincent Lewis and his three member team presented the 20-minute puppet skit at The Hope Center, a northeast Denver preschool, to teach students 2 1/2 to 5 years old the fundamentals of car seat safety. Sergeant Samuel Safe Seat is building an army of safety minded preschoolers who know how to buckle up! Kids love his sidekick, Snowflake, the energetic pup who always provides fuzzy hugs and joyous approval when preschoolers give right answers about car seat safety.
Additional characters in the “Make It Click” crew include:
Master Click (rapper),
Bennie the Bashful Seat Harness (talking booster seat), and
Rasta Click.
